Collegiate Science & Technology Entry Program (CSTEP)

Our mission for the Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program is to recruit, retain, and expose historically underrepresented minorities and/or economically disadvantaged students to STEM related career fields (Science, Technology, Engineering and/or Mathematics).

We strive to build a sense of community and belonging for our students amongst the campus, while providing the necessary resources to help them succeed.


To be eligible for CSTEP support, a student must:

  • Be a U.S citizen or a permanent resident
  • Be a New York State resident
  • Be a full-time student at FM and enrolled in an eligible major
  • Be a member of a historically underrepresented population (African American, Hispanic/Latino, Native American, or Alaskan Native) OR be economically disadvantaged (as defined by New York State income guidelines, please contact our office for these guidelines)

Eligible Majors

Eligible majors for the CSTEP program include:

  • Business: Accounting AAS
  • Computer Information Systems AAS
  • Computer Science AS
  • Electrical Technology AAS
  • Health Studies AAS
  • Health Science AS
  • Human Services AA/AAS
  • Liberal Arts & Sciences: Science AS
  • Nursing AAS
  • Radiologic Technology AAS

*Specific interest in majors related to careers in licensure, registered or certified professions may also qualify.

Program Requirements

To stay within CSTEP, you must:

  • Maintain a GPA of 2.25 or higher
  • Attend monthly meetings to stay informed about beneficial CSTEP services and activities
  • Fully participate in different activities, programs, conferences, and/or Day of Service
