Commencement

FM Commencement for 2020 is scheduled for Wednesday evening, May 20, 2020.

Fulton-Montgomery Community College’s 55th Commencement Ceremony will be held on Wednesday evening, May 20, 2020, at 7 p.m. at Proctors Theatre.  Students participating in commencement need to arrive at 6 p.m.  Proctors Theatre is located at 432 State Street, Schenectady, NY  12305.  More information about Proctors can be found on their website, www.proctors.org.

Parking for this event is available at no charge at Proctors Theatre – use the Parking Garage located at 220 Broadway.   More information for Proctors directions and parking can be found on their website, https://www.proctors.org/directionsparking/.

The following steps are intended to make the process of getting ready for Commencement easy for you:

STEP 1. Your Cap and Gown

Candidates wishing to participate in the 2019 Commencement Ceremony, on Wednesday, May 20, 2020 must wear a Cap and Gown.  All graduating students receive emailed and mailed order information in March.  If you have not pre-ordered your cap and gown, you may still order it at the Raider Trader College Store.  The store accepts cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, and Discover. The cap and gown cost is approximately $42.

For more information about The Raider Trader College Store, please go to the website at: https://www.bkstr.com/fultonmontgomeryccstore/home

STEP 2. Pick up your Cap and Gown

You can pick up your cap and gown at the Raider Trader College Store from the beginning of May up to and including the day of commencement, May 20, 2020.

STEP 3. Graduation Rehearsal

FM does not hold a graduation rehearsal but asks that the students arrive at Proctors by 6 p.m. to review the ceremony instructions and verify name cards.

Graduates will be issued a name card the night of commencement and need to keep the card with them at all times. The name card needs to be checked for accuracy. This card will be presented to Jane Kelley as the student prepares to cross the stage. The card will have a label on it with your full name.  If you see an error on this card please notify a staff member quickly.

STEP 4. Attend your Graduation Ceremony on Wednesday, May 20!

Bring the following items: your cap with tassel and gown.

  • Graduates should plan to arrive at 6 p.m. and will line up back stage of Proctors Theatre (use the entrance closest to the Parking Garage, NOT the State Street entrance). Guests should go directly to the Theatre to be seated, no tickets required.
  • 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. is the Commencement Ceremony. Following the Ceremony there will be a light reception held in the GE Theatre inside Proctors.  Graduates and guests are invited.

STEP 5.  Special Accommodations

If you or a member of your family needs special accommodations on the day of graduation, please feel free to contact Ms. Robin DeVito, Coordinator for Accessibility Services, at 518-736-3622, Ext. 8145 or by e-mail at robin.devito@fmcc.edu to make those arrangements.

STEP 6. Your Diploma

Spring 2020 graduates’ diplomas will be mailed to the permanent address on file with the Registrar’s office by the end of June.  Summer 2020 graduates’ diplomas will be mailed out by the end of September.  Please make sure your permanent address is correct.

Summer 2019 and Fall 2019 graduates should have received their diplomas already.  If not, please contact the Registrar’s Office at 518-736-3622, Ext. 8702.
