SUNY FMCC Commencement for 2023 will be on Friday, May 19, 2023!
SUNY Fulton-Montgomery Community College’s 58th Commencement Ceremony will be held on Friday evening, May 19, 2023, at 7 p.m. at FMCC campus. Students participating in Commencement need to arrive at 6 p.m. and go to O’Connell Hall, first floor. Faculty and staff participating in Commencement need to arrive at 6:15 p.m. and go to O’Connell Hall, second floor.
The following steps are intended to make the process of getting ready for Commencement easy for you:
STEP 1. Your Cap and Gown
Candidates wishing to participate in the Commencement Ceremony, on Friday, May 19, 2023 must wear a Cap and Gown. You may purchase and pick up your cap and gown at the FMCC Raider Trader College Store. The cost is approximately $50. The Raider Trader College Store will be open between the hours of 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., Monday – Friday. The College Store accepts cash, check and credit card payments.
STEP 2. Graduation Rehearsal
FMCC does not hold a graduation rehearsal but asks that the graduates report to the main lobby of O’Connell Hall by 6:00 p.m. on Friday, May 19. Graduates will be issued a name card the night of Commencement and need to keep the card with them at all times. The name card needs to be checked for accuracy. This card will be presented to the card reader as the graduate prepares to cross the stage. The card will have a label on it with your full name. If you see an error on this card please notify a staff member quickly.
STEP 3. Attend your Graduation Ceremony on Friday, May 19th!
Bring the following items: your cap with tassel and gown.
- Graduates should plan to arrive at 6 p.m. and will line up in O’Connell Hall. Guests should go directly to the main gym in the Physical Education Building to be seated, no tickets required.
- Faculty and staff participating in Commencement should plan to arrive at 6:15 p.m. and will line up on the second floor of O’Connell Hall.
- 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. is the Commencement Ceremony. Following the Ceremony there will be a light reception held on the campus quad. Graduates and guests are invited.
STEP 4. Special Accommodations
If you or a member of your family needs special accommodations on the day of graduation, please feel free to contact Ms. Robin DeVito, Coordinator for Accessibility Services, at 518-736-3622, Ext. 8145 or by e-mail at robin.devito@fmcc.edu to make those arrangements.
STEP 5. Your Diploma
Spring 2023 graduates’ diplomas will be mailed to the permanent address on file with the Registrar’s office by the end of June. Summer 2023 graduates’ diplomas will be mailed out by the end of September. Please make sure your permanent address is correct.
Summer 2022 and Fall 2022 graduates should have received their diplomas already. If not, please contact the Registrar’s Office at 518-736-3622, Ext. 8141.
