International Scholarships


Your Future Matters Scholarship

FM is pleased to offer a $7,000 Annual scholarship to all international students residing on campus who enroll Fall 2020 and beyond. This scholarship award will be an automatic deduction on your semester bill and does not require an application.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Be an international admitted student to FM. New applicants should complete the free online application
  • Students must reside in college housing.

How to Apply

  1. Apply for admission to FM using the online application prior to the deadline for the applicable semester. (see above)
  2. Complete the FM Housing application and pay the required housing deposit.

Scholarship Maintenance

  • Scholarship is awarded every academic year of enrollment.
  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0.
  • Enroll and successfully complete a minimum of 12 credits (exception may be granted) for Fall and Spring semesters and remain in satisfactory academic standing.

 


#YouAreWelcomeHere Scholarship

The #YouAreWelcomeHere Scholarship was developed as a result of U.S. higher education institutions’ commitment to providing a welcoming, safe and diverse environment to international students. FM is proud to support this initiative by offering two annual, renewable scholarships for up to two years of study that are worth 50% remaining tuition (after Your Future Matters Scholarship has been applied) at the time of initial matriculation. The scholarships are open to first-year international students admitted for undergraduate degree-seeking study at FM. Successful applicants will be dedicated to furthering the #YouAreWelcomeHere message by bridging intercultural divides. Applicants will submit a 500-1000 word written essay or a 2-5 minute video about their leadership skills and ideas for utilizing those skills to advance intercultural learning and understanding at FM.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Be a first-year international applicant to FM.
  • Attend (or have graduated from) a secondary school outside of the United States.
  • Demonstrate interest and personal initiative in activities involving intercultural learning and exchange.
  • Complete a 500-1000 word essay or a two-to-five minute video describing their aspirations to conduct projects, research, employment, or other experiences that will advance intercultural learning.

How to Apply

  1. Apply for admission to FM by March 1, 2020
  2. Submit the essay or video to aspencer@fmcc.suny.edu by March 1, 2020.
  3. If awarded a scholarship, claim it by submitting a tuition deposit to FM by April 1, 2020.

Scholarship Maintenance

  • Scholarship can be renewed for up to 2 years (Fall and Spring semesters only).
  • Participate in at least 10 hours of cultural sharing and engagement with the local community.
  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.
  • Enroll and successfully complete a minimum of 12 credits (exception may be granted) for Fall and Spring semesters.
