Transitions LogoTRANSITIONS: A Program Supporting Teens and Young Adults with Autism and Learning Differences with College, Career and Independence.

In high school, students and young adults with learning differences have access to supports that help them succeed as they grow up.  But what happens when they age out of those supports into a world that does not always accommodate their needs?

As you know, these young adults are capable and ambitious, but they often need a little extra help to succeed at college, develop fulfilling careers and live independently. The Transitions program in Mayfield and Albany steps in where high schools leave off to teach its students the skills necessary to turn their goals into reality. With our main campus located in the foothills of the beautiful Adirondack Mountains in New York State, and a new expansion into Albany, our premier college and career program is uniquely designed for young adults with autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, nonverbal learning disabilities and other learning differences.

Crafted from evidence-based programs, our curriculum is grounded in internationally recognized approaches that will set students on the path toward college and career success. Transitions has collaborated with several elite institutions, including the Savannah College of Art and Design, the Virginia Commonwealth University Autism Center for Excellence, the Mayo Clinic, and the Arc Lexington, to build its exclusive learning experience.

We offer summer and weekend programs as well as full-year programs. In addition to training students in subjects such as executive functioning, leadership, self-advocacy, health and wellness, social relationship building and independent living, we also expose them to socially rich recreational opportunities in a safe, secure and supportive environment. Transitions is defined in part by the memorable Adirondack outings, college tours and entertainment opportunities it weaves throughout the student’s experience.
