Professor Jim Gyldenvand has been teaching in higher ed institutions for 22 years with 18 of them being at FM. His course offerings include Introduction to Sociology, Diversity in America, Sociology of Families, and Social Deviance.
Jim serves on various college committees and most recently served as the college’s Academic Assessment Committee’s co-chair for several years. He belongs to the American Sociological Association.
Jim earned a B.A. in Sociology/Criminal Justice from Moorhead State University and a M.A. in Sociology from University at Washington.
His hobbies include riding his motorcycle as he tells us he travels all over the country including a solo trip he took from New York to Alaska and back. “I also enjoy listening to LPs, also known as records, on my hot-rodded vintage turntable,” says Jim, who is also an avid gardener.
