Erica_GonzalezErica Gauer is F-M’s Early Childhood Education Instructor. Prior to F-M, her career in education began teaching preschool in 1990. She then taught for 24 years in the City School District of Albany as a classroom teacher and a reading specialist. While in Albany, Erica mentored and supervised student teachers from Hudson Valley Community College and the College of Saint Rose.

Erica earned M.S. degrees in Literacy (Birth-6th grade) and in Curriculum Development and Instructional Technology from University at Albany; a B.S. in Elementary Education from SUNY New Paltz; and, she holds a Permanent Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education (Nursery- 6th grade) and a Literacy Specialist Professional Certificate (Birth-6th grade).

Trained at the Child Research and Study Center at SUNY Albany as a Teacher Leader, Erica provided staff training in the Interactive Strategy Approach. A Wilson Reading Teacher, she has instructed students with learning differences in clinical and group settings.

Originally from Long Island, she has lived and worked in the Capital Region since 1990, and currently lives in Clifton Park with her family. Her interests include yoga, gardening, cycling, and reading.
