Statement from Acting President Truckenmiller on Recent Events

Posted: June 3, 2020 — At Fulton-Montgomery Community College, two of our core values are diversity and inclusion. The FM community, along with so many others, is challenging ourselves to reconcile those values with the realities of the world we live in today. It is critical for us to acknowledge the pain and the outrage that is borne of the systemic failures in our society. Even more important than that acknowledgment is a commitment to real and meaningful change.

Colleges must continue to provide a space where our community of students, faculty, and staff contribute to that positive change.  We have a duty to foster intellectual growth, to encourage civil discourse, and to shine a light on the mistakes of the past so that we can build a better future. FM is committed to a future that does not place value or judgment based on the color of an individual’s skin.
