Develop your Technology and Administrative Skills at FM

Posted: October 16, 2019 — Do you enjoy working with computers? How about using social media in your work?  Would you like to begin a career where you can help people in a work setting that offers a variety of responsibilities?  If yes, Fulton Montgomery Community College offers two programs that prepare students to work in diverse business and medical settings.  FM’s Administrative Assistant and Health Information Records Management degree programs provide students with the skills that they will need to be successful.  In fact, Administrative Assistants are needed in almost every industry. Where you work will be up to you.

The Administrative Assistant program is perfect for the person who wants a challenging office or administrative career in a wide range of office environments.  The program requirements provide you with a variety of business skills in areas such as: advanced computer software, web design, written communication, customer relation management and business finance. The curriculum builds not only your skills but your confidence. This program also offers you an internship, which students always say is a valuable experience. When asked about her internship this is what Hayley a current student had to say, “I would say the best thing about having an internship is getting to put what you’ve learned in the classroom to use in the workplace. Not only has the college prepared me well for this type of work but the internship is further preparing me for the future. I’ve had the opportunity to learn from some really great people and I’ve even been hired before graduating!”

If the medical setting is what you are looking for, the Health Information Records Management Associates Degree at Fulton Montgomery Community College gives you the skills you need to pursue a successful career in healthcare. The program requirements contain the necessary courses to prepare you to take the medical coding certification exam. Health Information Records Management program course work includes medical terminology, medical insurance, essentials of anatomy and physiology, and medical coding.  The program also provides valuable coursework in medical office procedures, introduction to patient care, advanced MS Word, integrated software applications and an internship that will provide valuable skills for today’s medical office. Medical Records and Health Information jobs are expected to grow 11% over the next ten years according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (Bls.gov) and FMCC has all the courses to help you enter this exciting field.

Both degree programs are designed to develop the technology and administrative skills employers are looking for. The hands-on classroom lessons and activities provide students with real-world practice in the college classroom setting.
