Financial Aid Nights Coming to a School District Near You!

Posted: September 23, 2019 — Do you have a child who is thinking about attending college in the fall of 2020?  Are you in need of help trying to navigate the financial aid process necessary to get money to help cover the cost of college?  Well, great news!  In the month of October, the financial aid experts at Fulton-Montgomery Community College will get you the help you need.

October 1, 2019 is the date that you are able to start the financial aid process for the 2020-2021 academic year.  This is when you are able to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the New York State Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) application, and the Excelsior Scholarship (if available).  FM will be hosting many different events to help you sort through all of the information, get what you need to file all of the applications and work hand in hand with you to file all the necessary paperwork.

The Financial Aid team will be going into all of the local high schools in Fulton and Montgomery counties to help students and parents file the FAFSA, TAP and Excelsior scholarship applications.  The dates are as follows:

10/02/2019         Johnstown High School                                 5:30pm

At these events there will be a short presentation to cover sources, types and specific awards for federal, state and institutional financial aid.  We will then move to computer labs to help students and parents file the forms necessary for your student to receive aid for the 2020-2021 academic year.  If you plan to attend, please remember to bring your 2018 federal and state tax returns and W-2’s, social security numbers, dates of birth and a valid e-mail address.

Please plan on spending some time with us to get these forms filed early to get the best possible financial aid package for your child or yourself.  If you have any questions, please contact the Financial Aid Office at 518-736-3622 ext. 8201 for assistance.
