Tom began teaching at FM in 1997. Prior to FM, he served as an adjunct professor at University at Albany, The College of Saint Rose, Newberry College and Midlands Technical College both in South Carolina, and Hudson Valley Community College.
Tom is actively involved in coaching, particularly soccer (his passion) as he is the Head Varsity Girl’s Soccer Coach at Bethlehem High School, Head Coach at Players Soccer Academy in Delmar, Owner and Head Coach of LaSalle Soccer Camp in Troy, Head Girl’s Premier Team Soccer Coach for Shenentaha Premier Soccer Club, and Olympic Developmental Coach for Capital District Youth Soccer Association.
Tom is a member of several professional affiliations including National Strength and Conditioning Association; National Soccer Coaching Association of America; American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance; and American Association for Health Education. He also serves on the college’s Senate and Sustainability Committee.
Tom earned a B.S. in Physical Education from SUNY Cortland; a M.S. in Health Education from SUNY Cortland; and a Ph.D. in Health Promotion and Education form University of South Carolina. He holds several certifications including National Strength and Conditions Specialist; SUNY Youth Sports Institute Instructor; NSCAA National Level Certification; USSF National Level Coaching Certification; NYS Coaching Certification Instructor; American Red Cross First Aid and CPR Instructor; and Personal Trainer.
