Sherry Warner is an Assistant Professor for Nursing at FM and also has taught at HFM BOCES as a LPN Clinical Instructor. A graduate of FM, she went on to earn a B.S. from SUNY College of Technology and a M.S. in Nursing from St. Josephs of Maine. Sherry’s nursing practice has included areas of pediatric, maternity, medical-surgical, hospice, and homecare. She has served as a staff nurse, supervising community health nurse, and a quality assurance coordinator.
Sherry’s teaching responsibilities at FM include Nursing Science III with a focus on maternity nursing and Nursing Science IV with a focus on burns, diabetes, and the endocrine system. She developed a web-based pharmacology course which is offered during the summer and fall semesters. She also previously taught an in-class version of this course during the spring.
Currently, Sherry belongs to the Mohawk Valley District #10 Nurses Association; the New York State Nurses Association; the National League for Nurses; and serves on Nurses House Board of Directors. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and acts as Parish Nurse for St. James Lutheran Church. At FM, Sherry serves on the Sustainability Committee and the Assessment Committee. In 2009, she was presented with the Ellen Burns Excellence in Nursing Award.
Sherry has served in an elected position on the board of directors of the New York State Nurses Association. She was also an elected delegate from New York State to the American Nurses Association where she deliberated issues affecting RNs throughout the nation. She was appointed to the Secor Scholarship Committee by the New York State Nurses Association where she has served for two consecutive terms. Sherry has also been very active in raising money for the FM Foundation’s Nurses for Nurses Scholarship.
A quilt maker, Sherry enjoys crocheting prayer shawls for her church and counted cross stitch. She has been married for over thirty years and has a daughter, Vanessa, who is a Biology Science teacher.
