sharonSharon P. Poling, Professor and Director of Collaborative Career Learning (COCAL) and Experiential Learning, is the faculty mentor for COCAL, as well as internships and co-ops for students in Business, Accounting, Business Technology, Medical Administrative Assistant , Business Administration, Computer Networking and Computer Technology, as well as Automotive Technology. After ten years in education and workforce development, she began her career at FM in 1984. Over the years, she has developed opportunities for experiential education which benefits students, employers, and the College. These partnerships provide students with valuable work experience and career contacts, employers with a true partnership between business and education, and FM, with expanded program offerings. Additionally, Sharon teaches Career Exploration, Career Search and Career Success classes which utilize a career development model. Sharon has served in many leadership roles over the years, which include President of the Fulmont Association of College Educators (FACE), the College’s faculty union, Chair of Student Life, Secretary to Academic Policy, Middle States Subcommittee Chair, member of various search committees, including the search for the College president and Business Division Senator. As a certified DACUM (Developing a Curriculum) Facilitator, Sharon has assisted in program revisions for Business Administration, Business Technology, Medical Assistant, Automotive Technology, Computer Technology and Construction Technology and Digital Communications and Transmedia. Sharon earned a Master of Science in Education from SUNY College at Oneonta, a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Social Sciences from SUNY Potsdam, NYS permanent teaching certification and an Associate of Arts from Fulton-Montgomery Community College.
