Michael YoungsAs an Assistant Professor of English at FM, Mike teaches English I & II, Introduction to College Writing, Reading and Writing Poetry, and Popular Literature.

He is a member of the College’s Academic Integrity Committee, Curriculum Committee, College Senate, and former Division Chair of the Humanities Department.  He is also advisor to the student club SAW (Society of Artists and Writers). Mike belongs to the National Council of Teachers of English, the Academy of American Poets, and the Popular Culture Association.

Mike has studied under the poets Carol Frost, Gail Mazur, Martha Rhodes, Bill Knott, and David Barber. A published poet himself, Mike’s poem, “Spot of Time,” was published in “Writing from the Inside Out” and featured in the National Council of Teachers of English Poetry Month Celebration.

Some of Mike’s free time is spent recording his own music as he is an amateur musician and home recording enthusiast. He was also a former chef and brewmaster.

Mike earned a B.A. in English from Hartwick College and a M.F.A. in Writing and Literature from Emerson College.
