Mary Donohue, Library Director, Professor, began her career at FM in 1990. Prior to FM, some of Mary’s professional experience included Library Media Specialist at William Barkley and Clara Bacon Elementary Schools, Director of Fort Hunter Free Library, and Library Media Specialist at Broadalbin-Perth Middle School/High School.
During her tenure at FM, Mary has successfully spearheaded efforts to combine campus academic support services (Library, Learning Center, and Information Technology) into one area as The Evans Library & Learning Commons. She is a portfolio evaluator for the American Library Association Library Support Staff Certification program in several areas, and was instrumental in the creation and implementation of the Library Assistant/Technician Training program for New York Library Association.
Mary was the Vice-Chair for the College Senate; Co-Chair of the Middle States 10-Year Self Study; and Chair of the Academic Policy Committee and currently serves on both the Institutional and Academic Assessment committees. She is Past Chair and has served as Chair and Vice-Chair for SUNY Council of Library Directors; was a Councilor-at-Large for the New York Library Association; and for 10 years was a member of the Board of Trustees for the Capital District Library Council. One of Mary’s publications include Fulton-Montgomery Photographic Archives (http://fmphotoarchives.org). In 2003, Mary received the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Librarianship.
Mary’s educational background includes a B.A. from SUNY Geneseo, a M.S. in Library Science from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and the completion of 60 credit hours towards a Ph.D. in Informatics from University at Albany. She has both a Permanent Teaching Certificate in School Media Specialist/Library K-12 and a Public Librarian’s Professional Certificate.
