Debora Fitzdam, Associate Professor of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation began her career at FM in 1993. Her course offerings include Cardio Fitness/Weight Management, Stress Management, Strength and Flexibility Training, Weight Training and Conditioning, Core Stability, Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries, and Human Sexuality. Prior to FM, Deb taught Physical Education courses at University at Albany, Towson State University in Maryland, and Goucher College in Maryland. She also worked in Sports Medicine Clinics for both Amsterdam Memorial Hospital and Ellis Hospital.
Deb currently serves on FM’s Academic Curriculum Committee. In the past, she has served on the Academic Calendar Committee and Safety Committee. Since 1975, she has been a supporter of the American Red Cross and American Heart Association and since 1980, a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association. Recently she made her acting debut in The Vagina Monologues as part of “V-Day at FM;” a production to raise funds and awareness for domestic violence.
Deb enjoys spending time with her daughter and dalmations and keeps in shape with her enjoyment of kayaking, swimming, and scuba diving.
Deb earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Health/Physical Education from SUNY Cortland and a Masters in Education with a concentration in Sports Medicine/Athletic Training from the University of Virginia.
