Anna BielDr. Anna Biel joined the faculty in September 2010 as a history instructor. From 2005-2010, Anna was a graduate teaching assistant at SUNY Albany for the history department and from 2003-2005 was a graduate teaching assisting in the department of languages and literatures.

“I taught Russian as an adjunct instructor for Union College for the past six years and taught history at Schenectady County Community College as an adjunct last spring,” says Anna. “I am very excited to join the FM faculty.”

Anna has Master’s degrees in both History and Russian Studies from SUNY Albany. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Foreign Languages (English and German) from Oryol State University in Russia.

Anna earned a Ph.D. in May 2011 from SUNY Albany’s history department. Her dissertation is titled “Sacrifice in the Name of Sacred Duty: Sentiment and the Represenations of the Decembrist Wives in Russian Culture”.
