The Perrella Gallery is now featuring a new exhibition by artist Tyler Schrader titled Equal Matter – a recent series of large scale charcoal drawings.   Schrader says the exhibit explores the forces of energy found in nature from recordings of his daily interactions with his surrounding environment.

Schrader, a native of Johnstown, New York, is currently a senior at SUNY Purchase pursuing a B.F.A. in Fine Arts. He is also a 2014 alumni of FM’s Fine Arts program where he first began working on large scale paintings and drawings. He describes his drawings in this exhibition as being the process of drawing and focusing on formal elements such as line, shape, and light. The theme of the series is his personal observations of opposing forces in nature, describing his drawings as, “mirrors that reflect the mind and how it perceives things.”

Schrader has exhibited his work over the past several years in many local shows including a solo exhibition at the American Hotel in Sharon Springs, group exhibitions at the Paul Nigra Arts Center, and FM’s Alumni exhibition in the Perrella Gallery.

An artists’ reception is scheduled for Friday, January 13, 2017 from 7:00-9:00 pm at the Gallery; refreshments will be served and the public is cordially welcome to attend this free event.

Gallery hours are Monday-Friday from 10:00am-5:00pm or by appointment. The Gallery will be closed from December 24 – January 2. For further information call (518) 736-3622, x8977 or x8879.
