April 29, 2014 — FM is pleased to announce The Buck Moon Arts Festival to be held on FM’s campus, 2805 State Highway 67, Johnstown on July 12 and 13, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (rain or shine).

This free regional arts festival will showcase diverse, family-friendly visual and performance art from across New York State and beyond with vendors, workshops, demonstrations, and multi-venue live music and dance performances. Two juried art shows (2-D/3-D art and photography) are scheduled. Cash prizes will be offered in both competitions.

Featured artists include: Alex Torres & His Latin Orchestra, Hey Jude…The Tribute, Flame, Sara Milonovich & Daisycutter, The Bentwood Rockers, Penny Jar, Ms. Tina’s Tribal Belly Dance Company, the Iona Troupe Irish Step Dancers, and a Children’s Musical Program.

An array of vendors will cover the campus with tented booths on Saturday and Sunday, displaying juried arts & crafts, food artisans and gardening items available for sale. Wineries and Craft Beer makers will offer tastings of their regionally grown specialties; workshops and demonstrations will be held; and numerous food vendors will delight the palate all weekend long.

In the campus’ Perrella Gallery and the FM Visual & Performing Arts Center, juried art and photography shows will be on exhibit, bringing to the festival a celebration of the arts in the Mohawk Valley and Adirondack region of New York. To officially open the festival, American sculptor John Van Alstine will offer a presentation on Friday evening, July 11 in FM’s Theater.

On Saturday afternoon, July 12, professional nature photographer Carl Heilman II will present a multi-media show entitled I Am the Adirondacks followed by a book signing. The thought-provoking play, The Exonerated, directed by FM’s theater department and performed by local actors, will be presented on Saturday and Sunday evenings. And, a Musician’s Showcase with rotating 30-minute sets by local bands will take place in the Physical Education Building’s Raiders Cove .
