FM recently held it 22nd Annual Regional High School Exhibition which has become an annual tradition to highlight the artistic achievements of young artists throughout the region in grades 9-12. This year’s exhibit included 79 student works selected from nearly 400 works submitted from 15 school districts within a 50-mile radius of the college.
This year’s Juror was Kathryn Zajicek, artist and retired Johnstown art teacher. A wide variety of mediums were submitted including drawings, collage, painting, sculpture, photography, as well as video and digital images.
Five Juror’s Choice Awards of $100.00 each were presented to the following young artists: Emily Bouton, Juror’s Choice for her pen and ink submission titled “Musical Hands,” grade 9, Bethlehem Central School District; Ashley Hinch, Juror’s Choice for her acrylic/wire/burlap piece titled “Self-Portrait,” grade 12, North Colonie-Shaker High School; Katherine Love, Juror’s Choice for her oil painting titled “Self-Portrait,” grade 12, Guilderland Central School District; Nicole Little, Juror’s Choice for her oil painting titled “Jones,” grade 12, Mayfield High School; and Herin Park, Juror’s Choice for her acrylic painting titled “Meet Me in the Park,” grade 12, North Colonie-Shaker High School.
Three students received Honorable Mention including Henry Caughey for his digital photograph titled “Wagon on the Sacandaga,” grade 11, Broadalbin-Perth High School; Lena Faustel for her digital illustration titled “Untitled,” grade 12, HFM BOCES; and Emma Leath for her newspaper, chicken wire, and ribbon piece titled “Read It,” grade 10, Bethlehem Central School District.
