Golf Tournament a Success

Fulton-Montgomery Community College hosted its 19th Annual Golf Classic, “Keeping Futures on Course,” Wednesday, May 23 at Rolling Hills Country Club in Fort Johnson. The Golf Classic raised an estimated $30,000 to support the College’s much anticipated Raiders Cove, a modern day gathering space for FM students which will be located in the Physical Education Building’s vacant pool area. Construction for the project will begin this fall with an anticipated opening of January 2013.

“We are so grateful to our sponsors and golfers for their continued support of this tournament which is the college’s largest fundraiser,” said Lesley Lanzi, Executive Director of the Foundation. “We were able to exceed our past earnings thanks to the generous sponsorships from NBT Bank, Hays and Wormuth, Mangino, Trane, Mr. & Mrs. Angelo & Kay Friello, Bast Hatfield, Benetech, Epimed, Frontier Communications, Martin, Schudt, Wallace, DiLorenzo and Johnson, Miller Printing, Pepsi, Repeat Business Systems, Time Warner Business Class, St. Mary’s Healthcare, Tetra Tech/Delaney Construction, West & Company CPAs PC, Chartwells Dining Service, Cranesville Block/Cushing Stone, Bartyzel Inc., Judith-Ann Realty Inc., Richard Kline/Shannon Rose Design, Holiday Inn: Johnstown/Gloversville, Merrill Lynch/Frank D. Bruno, Jr., and many, many others. The volunteers, golfers, sponsors, and prize donors contributed to the success of this annual event.”

The winning foursomes were as follows: first place with a low gross score of 56 included Vito Greco, Dave Groesbeck, Doug Hart, and Bill Sullivan; second place with a low gross score of 64 included Bob Briggs, Tom Carson, Tom Greco, and Brian Kosineski; third place with a low gross score of 66 included Andy Iannotti, Leann Geelan, Bill Marine, and Mike Richtmyer; first place with a low net score of 57.2 included Pierre Barbera, Tony Merendo, Dan Rizk, and Mike Rizk; second place with a low net score of 57.7 included Amanda Bishop, Mark Centi, Chris Lanzi, and Joe Taylor; third place with a low net score of 58.3 included Abby Boslet, Adam Knaust, Andrea Muhlbeck, and Mike Muhlbeck.

Women’s Longest Drive Contest winners on hole #1 went to Katie Jordan and on hole #18 went to Leeann Geelan; men’s Longest Drive Contest winners on hole #1 went to Mike Richtmyer and on hole #18 went to Joe Taylor. Closest to the Pin Contest winners included Doug Hart on hole #2, Chris Lanzi on hole #6, Andy Iannotti on hole #14, and Bill Sullivan on hole #16.

This year’s Golf Classic Committee Members included Co-Chairs Eben Miller and Gregg Roth as well as Diane Boslet, Helen Buanno, Ashley Delaney, Sue Edmonds, Jane Kelley, Lesley Lanzi, Amy Radik, Sue Sammons, Cathi Willette, and Dale Wintermute.
