“I have nothing to do!” is NOT what you will hear from your child this summer if you sign him/her up for one or more of Fulton-Montgomery Community College’s full day fun camps! Beginning July 11, students entering grades 3 – 9 will have opportunities to learn how to cook, speak Spanish, become a leader, or even enter the wizarding world of Harry Potter!
For the first time, FM will be offering these full day fun camps which will run from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Need to be to work by 8:30 a.m.? No problem! We have an early drop-off option beginning at 8:00 a.m. as well as a late pick-up until 5:00 p.m.
For just $229, your ‘camper’ will participate in a fun and educational program; be provided with a daily lunch with a menu ranging from popcorn chicken to make-your-own nachos as well as macaroni and cheese, sloppy joes, and pizza; and receive a souvenir T-shirt.
Full days begin with Session One running from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon, lunch from 12:00 noon – 1:00 p.m., followed by Session Two from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Camp weeks are scheduled to run from July 11 – July 15, July 18 – July 22, and July 25 – July 29.
The sessions vary by grade and include the following topics: “Adirondack Art & Ecology,” “Ahoy Pirates,” “The Art of Expression,” “Cooking Part One and Cooking Part Two,” “Game Play Theatre,” “Go Green,” “Let’s Play Leadership Camp,” “Memory Scrapbooking, “Ocean Life,” “Spanish Language & Culture Part One and Part Two,” “That Came From Where?,” “Wizarding with Harry Potter,” and “Writing Can Be Fun.”
“Science Tech Camp” will run from July 25 – July 29 as a full day camp geared toward students entering grades 7 – 9 only. Campers will have hands-on experience all week long as they learn how to use lab equipment, watch signals and voice patterns on an oscilloscope, play with sound waves, become familiar with mechatronics and robotics, tour the college’s new demonstration clean room and much, much more!
For students who really want to attend a camp but can only come for a half day, excluding the “Science Tech Camp,” we do offer a half day option at $139 per camper which includes a choice of morning or afternoon sessions only; however, lunch is not included with half day packages.
All of the camp descriptions can be found on our website as well as information on each instructor, registration forms, and complete lunch menus. Visit www.fmcc.suny.edu, and click on “Full Day Fun Camp.” You can also call the Admissions Office at (518) 736-5300. Most camps have a maximum capacity of 16 campers per session so don’t wait too long to get your camper signed up!
“Any child who says there is nothing to do this summer should highly consider a full day fun camp at FM,” says Camp Coordinator Jeremy Sherman. “There will be so much for them to do, they’ll hate to see the camp come to an end. We hope to make this a new annual summer tradition for Fulton and Montgomery County’s kids!”
